Ancient Fire

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our 'God is a consuming fire.' (Heb 12:28-29)

You wrecked my life
On a radiant Fall day
Unexpected providence
Crashed into this stray
Dry and cracked kindling
Set ablaze by consuming love
Holy light from Heaven
You are the same ancient passion
The pillar that blazed and led by night
Fire that granted forgiveness on the altar
The One that sent blazing angel in bramble
Upon holy ground, glory revealed
Always chasing the faithless
Flaming chariots and angels surround
Power in the battle
You are the same God of old
You defend with strength so bold
The same furious love fights for me
Beloved prepares a place for me
Table set and feast ready
On bent knees you pray for me
In the fire, you purify and refine
Your voice sings over me
Even when I despair and doubt
It is all grace, you still chase
After this girl with wavering faith

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
(Zeph 3:17)
